Overview:
Use vidShare to share your video with another iphone/ipad/itouch running vidShare
over a local network.
Quick Start:
Turn on vidShare on two devices. They will automatically connect to each other.
If they don't, compare the ip numbers (cam nn.nn.n.n). The first 3 numbers should match.
If they don't, then the devices are not on the same network. Go to settings on each device and check the
network connection.
Ports:
Ports 2048 and 2049 must be open for vidShare to work. Most home routers leave these ports open.
How it Connects:
vidShare tries to connect to 254 different ip addresses. These addresses are generated
by taking vidShare's own ip address and changing the right most number.
For example, if vidShare's ip address is 192.168.1.3, vidShare will try to connect to
192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.5, 192.168.1.6, 192.168.1.7 and so on to 192.168.1.255.
Local Network:
Let's say your router has the ip address 192.168.1.1. When you join this network
with vidShare, vidShare might get assigned 192.168.1.3 from your router. Another
unit running vidShare might get 102.168.1.8. These two units will connect.
Lost Connection:
When a connection is lost, or when another vidShare is disconnected, the visitor window
will be red.
More than 255:
Sometimes routers might assign more than 255 ip address. For two vidShare units
to connect their ip numbers must be exactly the same except for the right-most number.
If more than this right-most number is different, then vidShare WON'T connect.
If you have access to the router, you can adust it to assign only 255 ip addresses.
If not, ...
