vidMac
for iPhone/Ipad/ITouch/MacOS
download vidMacServer
watch on youTube

Overview:
Video back and forth between any iPad/iPhone/iTouch and your MacOS machine. Pan and zoom. Connects automatically. Easy to use.

Connect your iPad to your mac with vidMac. Download and run vidMac on your mac. Download and run vidMac for iPad from the appStore. It's that easy.

Mobile Version:

vidMac(iPad) is optimized for the iPad, but still works on iPhone and iTouch. vidMac also works with vidShare (another product from ilovelava.com).

Pan and Zoom:
When sending from your iPad, pan and zoom with your fingers. The result will be transmitted to your mac. On your mac, resize the vidMac window to select areas to transmit to your iPad. The more zoomed in, the better the quality.

vidMac(MacOS):
vidMac(MacOS) starts in full screen mode. Resize the vidMac window to zoom in on one area of your screen. The result will be higher resolution transmission. Click the vidMac button to zoom full screen again. A status line at the bottom tells whether vidMac(MacOS) is waiting to connect, sending, or receiving, and to/from which ip.

Double-Tap to Zoom Fit:
Double tap to restore the view during sending or receiving vidMac(iPad).

Ports:

Ports 2048 and 2049 must be open for vidMac to work. Most home routers leave these ports open.

How it Connects:

vidMac searches the first 25 ip addresses on your network. Your router gives your device its ip address. Usually the ip numbers are very close and low in range.

For example, if vidMac's ip address is 192.168.1.3, vidMac will try to connect to 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.5, 192.168.1.6, 192.168.1.7 and so on to 192.168.1.25.

Sometimes, your device will be given an ip whose right number is larger than 25. If this happens, try to re-assign a lower number. We might switch back to searching the first 255 ip addresses, if we receive feedback.

Manual Connection:
If vidMac doesn't connect automatically, tap the "Enter your Mac's ip address manually" button. Type in the ip number visible on vidMac on your Mac.

Tap Done. vidMac for iPad/iPhone will now connect to vidMacServer on your Mac.

No Connection:
When vidMac starts up, or when a connection is lost vidMac(iPad) displays a message to connect to vidMac on your mac. vidMac(MacOS) will display a "Waiting to connect" message.

Same network:
If vidMac still doesn't connect, check the ip numbers on both vidMac on your iPad/iPhone and vidMac on your Mac.

Depending on your network, the first three numbers should match. On commercial networks, the only the first two numbers will match. If no numbers match, you are definitely not on the same network! Go to settings and check the network name on both your iPad/iPhone and your Mac.
