Intro:
Look thru your iphone camera and see a heads up display.
Tap the fire button to send projectiles at the floaties.
How it works:
Your iphone 3Gs has a built-in accelerometer. This gadget
senses your iphones rotation in the x and y direction, and
gravitational force in the z direction. In addition, your iphone
3Gs has a built in compass. Between these two gadgets, your
iphone can be directed at any point in space, theoretically!
Imaginary Sphere:
Imagine there's an imaginary sphere around you. Keep your
iphone parallel to this sphere and your aim will be perfect.
Projectiles:
Projectiles are randomly selected. It's always a surprise.
Targets:
Targets are randomly placed floaties. It's always a surprise. They
spin around in space all around you. Send projectiles towards
the floaties.
Fire:
Tap the fire button to send projectiles. You can also tap the
screen to fire. You start out with
100 projectiles.
Blocking the Lens:
If the background is too bright, you can always block the camera
lens with your finger while playing.
Help:
Tap the help button to show this screen.
No more Shots:
When you're out of shots, the game ends.
Reset Best Time:
Tap the fire button without hitting any target until there
are no more shots. You will see a message telling you that
the best time has been reset.
Best Time Beep:
A beep will sound while your playing when your time matches
the best time. Play is not interrupted, so keep on playing.
Best Time:
Your best time is recorded and displayed with your scores.
How many hits, misses, how long it took, and the best time
are all displayed at the end of each game.
Timer:
The timer starts when you fire your first projectile. And it
stops when the last target is hit, (or you run out of shots)
The timer is shown on the right.
Target Layout:
Targets are loosely arranged in a group around your iphones
startup orientation. During startup and at the end of each
game, orientate your iphone in the direction you want to
play. When camFire starts, or when you tap the play again
button, targets will be created based on the orientation of
your iphone.
Markers:
Markers look like tiny targets. Each marker tells you where
a target is off screen. When a target is on screen, its marker
disappears. When a target goes off screen, its marker appears.
If a marker is on the upper left, then a target is also in the upper
left direction.
Exercise:
Playing camFire counts as mild exercise. As you turn and bend
to find the next target, your body is getting a mild workout.
Starting camFire:
When you start camFire, targets will be created where you are pointing.
If you point north, looking up, the cluster of targets will be
created in that direction.
How to Play:
You start out with 100 shots. Try to hit all the floaties before
you run out of shots. You time is kept. Your score is your
time in seconds. If you run out of shots, camFire stops and
tells you. If you hit all the floaties, camFire stops and
shows your score. Tap play again to start over.
Score:
Targets hit are shown on the left. You score when
a projectile hits a target. Misses are recorded in red.
The best time is recorded and displayed.
Tips:
Your iphone reacts to gravity in two ways. The built in compass
tells it which way it is pointing. The accelerometer tells the iphone
which way it is tilted. Try keeping the iphone aligned to an imaginary
sphere around you. To pan left, move the iphone left and rotate with it.
You should be smooth in your motions, both left to right, and up to down.
It takes a little practice, but going smooth is the secret.
Restart Easter Egg:
Tap on the camFire logo at the top of the screen. This will instantly
restart your game. It is also a toggle switch: every other time, you will
see actual longitude values for each target. The longitude value for the
iphone itself is shown in the center.
